Is a high-speed hair dryer worth it, or is 110,000 rpm just marketing?

Why the motor matters
A brushless motor spinning around 100,000 rpm moves a lot of air. More air at a lower temperature dries hair in roughly half the time of a conventional dryer without cooking it. Heat is what damages the cuticle, so shorter, cooler drying is the entire benefit.
Ions and other claims
Negative ions reduce static and help the cuticle lie flat; the effect is real and small. Everything else on the box, from 'intelligent heat' to 'shine technology', is a way of saying temperature control, which you want, and which a good cheap unit also has.
Where the expensive one wins
Attachments, warranty, and noise. If you style daily with a diffuser and a concentrator and want five years of support, the brand may be worth it. For drying hair fast at lower heat, it is not.
