Before you buy
The red light therapy questions people argue about.
Do red light therapy masks actually work?
Modestly, for tone and fine lines, over weeks, at studied wavelengths and a real dose. Not in a week, and not with any mask.
Is a microcurrent device an at-home facelift?
No. It gives a short-lived lift from muscle stimulation and mild swelling. Consistent use maintains the look. It does not move tissue.
Does red light actually regrow hair?
For pattern hair loss, low-level red light has real trial evidence for thicker, denser hair over months. It does not revive follicles that are gone.
Red light vs near-infrared: which wavelength do I actually need?
Red (630 to 660 nm) for the surface: tone, texture, fine lines. Near-infrared (810 to 850 nm) reaches deeper: studied for muscle recovery and, with red, collagen support. The good devices use both.
Every guide lives in the encyclopedia. Light devices across both categories are sorted by wavelength in the light wing.
